Serving Different Users Needs: Magnolia GenUIne's User Profiles Explained

Following the introductory article about the interactive design process of the Magnolia GenUIne development project, I want to continue with the analysis and discuss different “profiles” of users working with the new Magnolia 5.0 AdminCentral (formerly denoted as version 4.0). I will present different so called “personas”, each of them describing a specific group of users with unique characteristics. In order to discuss and evaluate further design aspects, particularly usability, it is important to understand and remember the characteristics of these different “personas”. The main purpose of this article is to inform developers of what they need to keep in mind when implementing the new Magnolia 5.0 AdminCentral interface.

The GenUIne Development Approach - Part 2

It has been quite a while since you heard some news from the Magnolia GenUIne project. So here we go again, this time with the technical details of the GenUIne development project. This article discusses the motivation for renewing the architecture of the Magnolia AdminCentral from a technical perspective. Further, I’ll present to you the two different technical approaches discussed at Magnolia and update you about our decisions.

The GenUIne Development Approach - Part 1

My previous article covered the motivation behind the new graphical user interface that will ship with Magnolia 4.0, called GenUIne. I will now take a look at the development process which is separated into two different trails, namely the “interface design” trail and the “technical trail”. In this post, I will explain the interface design trail of GenUIne that focuses on usability enhancements. The next post will shed a light on the technical trail and how technological enhancements are going to be implemented.

Developing GenUIne, the new Magnolia User Interface

GenUIne is the codename for the new graphical user interface (GUI) of the Magnolia Enterprise Content Management System . It will ship with Magnolia 4.0 in a couple of months. The development of GenUIne is currently at an early stage, however analysis and conceptual work has already been done.
This blog post kicks off a series of posts related to GenUIne. The series is meant to highlight some of the new features and bring ideas and concepts to the Magnolia community. This first article introduces the development approach chosen for GenUIne with its two main branches, the user interfaces design trail and the technical trail.
